Maitre D is a DJ/Producer based in Northern California's Bay Area. His production style spans various genres, including flavors of Hip-Hop, R&B, and House, all with a unique blend of samples, synths, and live instrumentation. In addition to his 2019 instrumental release "Green", he has produced tracks for artists such as Sadat X of Brand Nubian and Jidenna of "Classic Man" fame, as well as remixes & productions for various Bay Area indie artists. Coming from a DJ background, his work also includes a slew of mash-ups, blends, and edits, featured on Wild 94.9, the famed Beat Junkies record pool, as well as compilations by notable DJ crews such as Motown On Monday DJs & Sazon Libre.
Maitre D's DJ sets feature an even wider variety of styles and eras, while always setting the vibe. In addition to the styles heard in his production, you might also hear vintage Soul and Reggae, Afro Beat, Jazz and more. An avid record collector & sample hunter, Maitre D's selections always reflect a distinct level of taste with one foot in the rich musical past and one firmly planted in the here & now.
In addition to creating and performing, Maitre D also works closely with Oakland-based nonprofit, Today's Future Sound. Since 2012, he has taught digital music production for Bay Area youth, sharing his knowledge and love of music creation with young aspiring beat makers.
